Health CareI believe that access to affordable, high-quality health care is a basic human right. Affordable health care also empowers individuals and families to plan for their futures and take care of those they love without fear that they are one illness away from financial hardship. We need to expand Medicaid, lower the price of prescription drugs, and continue to explore options for ensuring affordable health care for all.

Education and Job TrainingI believe we need to support our teachers and empower our schools to provide the resources and tools that let all students succeed and compete in a global market. We need to offer job training that provides our employers a stable workforce and our workers livable incomes. We need to make sure that all communities receive fair funding for schools, and that communities like our own, are not shortchanged.
|
Livable Incomes and a Strong EconomyI believe in the dignity of work, that working people should be paid a livable wage and farmers should get fair prices for their goods. I believe that business owners should have a stable, well-trained workforce and pay wages that make their businesses profitable while providing economic stability for the working families in our community. Education, job training, reliable transportation, and steady leadership can make our community more prosperous. Our state government needs to better invest in communities like ours.
|
Affordable, Livable Homes and Reliable TransportationI believe that we should not create barriers to success. That means making sure that we have more flexible public transportation systems that let working people get to work. That means that our community has the resources and legislation it needs to provide quality, affordable housing. Our community succeeds when everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Women's HealthI believe that planned pregnancies strengthen families, empower women, promote maternal health, and reduce infant mortality. More than half of maternal deaths in Ohio are preventable. We should eliminate barriers to reproductive health care in our community. Women need to be able to make the health care decisions that are right for them, and that means providing accurate contraceptive education, access to birth control and to prenatal care, and it means limiting the government’s intervention in making important medical choices, and that in some cases, can put her life and her well being at risk.

The EnvironmentI believe that the environment sustains our communities, and it should be protected and preserved. We must ensure that all citizens have access to clean, safe, and affordable water, continuing the work that community groups like People for Safe Water have started. We must also protect the supply of water along with the quality of our parks, natural areas, and public lands, supporting the work of groups like Mad River Township's Citizens Against Mining. We must also invest in and expand the use of renewable energy so that everyone in this community has access to clean, sustainable power.
